This can involve anti-inflammatories, bracing, stretching and home exercises, physical therapy or occupational therapy and injections (cortisone, hyaluronic acid or “gel shots”, and other biologic solutions such as PRP), among other treatment modalities. Whenever possible, I strive to treat patients without surgery. I care for adults and teenagers, whether they are hoping to return to elite competition, leisurely activities, or simply hoping to have less pain and better function. Aside from learning and performing these surgeries under the tutelage of these thought leaders in the field, I have advanced the field of orthopaedic surgery by publishing over 60 manuscripts and book chapters, having presented my work regionally, nationally and internationally over 80 times, and continue to work as a consultant journal reviewer for several prominent peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, British Journal of Sports Medicine, Cartilage, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Journal of Orthopaedic Research and Sports Health. Throughout my training, I worked alongside top surgeons who have advanced the field of orthopaedic surgery by creating and innovating modern techniques and implants that we use today in an effort to improve patients’ outcomes after injuries. I am originally from Springfield, Missouri, where I received my undergraduate education at Drury University, graduating Summa cum Laude with honors in Biology and Chemistry (minors in Business Administration and Global Studies). During medical school at The University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, MO, I was elected to the AOA Honor Medical Society as a top member of my graduating class. In Washington, DC I worked alongside the team physicians for the Washington Football Team, Washington Nationals and Washington Capitals. Prior to fellowship, I completed residency at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and was honored to be selected as the Academic Chief Resident in my final year. At Rush, I gained experience as an assistant team physician for professional teams (Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Fire) and NCAA Division I teams (DePaul University athletics). Prior to joining Miller Orthopedic Specialists, I was selected for advanced training as a Fellow in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the internationally recognized Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush / Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
